Chiang Mai - Day 6-7

We’re discovering that while we love Bangkok we just don’t have the stamina to walk around aimlessly just for the sake of  immersing ourselves in the city’s vibe. This time around we’re more inclined to just take a taxi to our destination…taking the ferry or subway while cheaper and often shorter (time wise) just requires more walking and stairs. The heat is also affecting us in a way that it didn’t last year…it’s just tiring us out and we’re napping after each morning excursion.

We spent 6 days in Bangkok and we were constantly amazed at the vibrancy of the various neighborhoods… it’s the kind of city that we could easily see living in but not one that we feel we need to come back to as tourists.

We arrived in Chiang Mai yesterday. A 1.5 hour flight north of Bangkok. Smaller and more gentle we liked it immediately. Once again we’re in a really nice hotel. It’s located in the Old City part of town… surrounded by centuries old walls and dotted with fantastical temples and shrines. Our room is large and modern with a fab pool just outside. We had a delicious lunch today for 200 bhat ($6) and tonight we’re off to the night market.
